RISE research assistant presents at National Conference

October 11, 2017

RISE graduate research assistant, Jeanne Connelly, presented her poster, Tier II Supports: Beyond Check-in Check-out, at the National Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL on September 28, 2017.  RISE partners with the Iowa Department of Education to develop an annual report evaluating PBIS implementation in K-12 schools across Iowa.  This literature review responded to a need that was identified within the 2015-2016 IDoE PBIS Annual Evaluation Report: practitioners are implementing Check in and Check out interventions across the state, and they are seeking additional Tier II best practice supports for students with challenging behaviors.  Jeanne was able to identify options for research-based social skills programs and alternative interventions. These options will be shared with the PBIS state leadership team, to support effective implementation of interventions and progress monitoring of student outcomes.
