Among the projects at RISE is the newly established "Workforce Development During Economic Crisis: The Iowa Community College Response." The study, performed in partnership with Kirkwood Community College’s Continuing Education and Training Services, examines both credit and non-credit job skills development and retraining programs at Iowa community colleges amid the current economic crisis. At a time when states and localities are cutting budgets and business and industry is under financial stress, the study examines whether these programs are able to equip citizens with new skills for emerging jobs or if these programs are falling victim to retrenchment.
