Evaluation of the National Center for Agriscience and Technology Education
|
The National Center for Agriscience and Technology Education, AgrowKnowledge, is funded by the Advanced Technology Education (ATE) initiative of the National Science Foundation (NSF). With headquarters at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, AgrowKnowledge is a national partnership of community colleges working together to educate and prepare workforce-ready graduates to use emerging technologies in the agriculture, food, and natural resources industries. Partners conduct and participate in activities designed to develop faculty skills and knowledge, innovative curriculum, and overall capacity. RISE has served as evaluator of the project since its inception in 2001. The evaluation is based on a comprehensive causal map that identifies inputs and activities designed to lead to desired intermediate and ultimate outcomes. Evaluation methods include surveys, focus groups, and interaction with project leaders to determine the effectiveness and impact of workshops, conferences, and other Center activities.
