Evaluation of the National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC)

The National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. RISE has served as the evaluator for the NFLRC for over 15 years, providing data on the impact of professional development activities for teachers and teacher educators in enhancing knowledge and skills in language and content, building leadership capacity, and establishing collaborative professional relationships, with the intent of improving student learning of foreign languages. The NFLRC is conducting a comprehensive research-based program for teaching Spanish and Chinese. The evaluation of the NFLRC for the next three years through 2010 involves conducting surveys and interviews with teacher practitioners, conducting interviews with local school administrators participating in the research projects, conducting focus groups with foreign language professionals, and reporting of evaluation results for both formative and summative purposes.
