Carrie Kortegast joined RISE in August of 2007. She is a first year doctoral student in ELPS with a focus in Higher Education. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Holyoke College and her Master of Education degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her previous experiences include working in admissions, alumni affairs, housing and residential life, and advising LGBT student groups.

Currently, she serves as the NASPA's GLBT Issues Knowledge Community Co-Chair. Her research interests include the small college and university environment for students and staff, the experiences of LGBT students, social justice education, and gendered educational environments, particularly the experience of students at women's colleges.
