Linda Serra Hagedorn is a Professor and Director of the Research Institute for Studies in Higher Education (RISE) at Iowa State University. Dr. Hagedorn's research focuses on community college student success, retention, and transfer. She is especially interested in issues pertaining to underrepresented student groups, and equity.
Prior to joining the faculty at Iowa State University, she directed the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Florida. She was also the Director of the Transfer and Retention of Urban Community College Students Project (TRUCCS); a longitudinal study of over 5,000 students enrolled in the Los Angeles Community College District.
Although Dr. Hagedorn performs both quantitative and qualitative research, she is especially known for developing techniques to analyze enrollment data and other college files. She has created new rubrics and designs for longitudinal analyses of transcript data (transcript analysis). Her most recent published works include:
